The Fashion Design with Business (Hons) programme from Glasgow Caledonian University evelops innovative and entrepreneurial graduates ready to succeed in the fashion industry.

The Fashion Design with Business (Hons) programme from Glasgow Caledonian University has strong links with industry. We regularly invite guest speakers into the classroom to give you an up-to-date employer and industry perspective.

You will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience through ‘live’ case study challenges and field trips giving you an insight into the workings of some of the most successful fashion companies. This unique programme will position you with the business and fashion skills that will allow you to enter a wide range of careers in the industry or even start your own business.

Key facts:

You’ll be equipped with a deep understanding of the global fashion industry, exploring marketing and business modules that you will apply to the world of fashion. You will explore the sustainability of the fashion industry in depth, gaining insights into how to be a responsible leader in the sector. You will be building a wide range of technical and practical skills, including pattern cutting, garment construction and computer-aided fashion design software.

Much of the practical work is carried out in our Fashion Factory, our industry standard Design and Cutting Studio. We have a purpose-built Design and Cutting Studio designed to replicate an industrial environment which provides a central hub for Fashion Design with Business students. This facilitates an authentic practitioner experience from the design process through to the production of garments.

I’m going to be volunteering in Kenya with a small businesses to fine tune their marketing strategies, general expansion and helping them pitch for investment. I’m really looking forward to that because it allows me to put into practice the theory that I’ve learnt over the past four years at GCU, but also the university has such a commitment to sustainability and empowering communities so it is a great opportunity to marry them both together.
